The Locality Map

This is my entry for this week. Actually, my first entry on this blog.. Everywhere you go in Singapore, there is the locality map. It shows where you are currently, as well as all the other possible destinations in the area.. For people who do not own an iPhone, the locality map is a great alternative..

The Eagle Has Landed

Arrived in Singapore without any problem, except that I was really very tired. Oh and ROAMING.. My phone was set to roam at the last minute. Last option actually because my SUN phone has not activated roaming yet.. Good thing I saw the roaming instruction at the NAIA while Honey and I were trying to move around in search for a free cellphone charging..

How to set your phone to roam:

SMART

type ROAM ON
send to 333
for prepaid make sure you have at least P 100 load to be able to do so..

roaming is automatic.. and I mean automatic, I did mine when the plane was almost taking off, engine and all..

GLOBE
type GROAM ON [Start Date] [No. of Days]
send to 2884

For example, if you want to activate your roaming on Decemberember 26, 2010 for ten days, then text GROAM ON 09/26/2005 10 send to 2884.

make sure that you have P100 balance before activating your International Roaming
maintain P100 daily load while abroad to ensure continuity of your roaming service

Note: You may request for roaming activation 7 days before departure or at least an hour before departure. Maximum number of days for activation is 180 days.

I was not able to set my globe to roam..

SUNCELLULAR

the customer service personnel we spoke with on their hotline said

type ROAM ON
send to 222

unfortunately, it didn't work..

my sister had to call the hotline again and again..  Anyway, it was indeed a good idea that I set the smart phone to roam, otherwise, my Tito and the guys would not have any way to reach me.. or me to reach them..

Sending Money From Singapore

One of my concerns these days is how to send money from Singapore. And since I have my EON, I have asked my father and sister Sweet to open up their own EON too. Turned out that I can still use my EON to send money by remittance. And I guess it is way cheaper than all others.

  1. Bank to Bank
    • Deutsche Bank, Singapore  SWIFT CODE (BIC) - DEUTSGSG
    • United Overseas Bank, Singapore SWIFT CODE (BIC) - UOVBSGSG
  2. List of Remittance Partners
Brunphil Express
304 Orchard Road
Lucky Plaza Unit #02-83
Singapore 238863
Tel: 6375-2604/2605

Kabayan Remittance
304 Orchard Road,
Lucky Plaza Unit # 03-25/ 03-26
Singapore 238863
Tel: 6836-6326

Pinoy Express
304 Orchard Road
Lucky Plaza Unit # 02-47
Singapore 238863
Tel: 6737-9467/ 6737-9102
And of course, there is still Paypal..

As with my own consumption, as long as my EON is with me, I can use it as an ATM card at machines with the VISA PLUS logo..

Finally Going To Singapore

I have long put off buying my airplane ticket since I was waiting for a promo. I told myself I will grab the least cost as promos are designed that way. When I learned that there was an ongoing promo at P 1888.00, I was already excited but PayPal did something terrible reversing my payout so my money didn't arrive on time. Sure it is still available, the said promo. But yesterday morning, I was really exhilarated and would have been frustrated when I learned from my aunt that there is an ongoing seat sale at P 888.00--- and round trip would only cost P 2708.00, which I thought I would not be able to get since my debit card is still empty. But alas! My aunt said I should just use her card so that we can participate in the promo.. And so Me, my cousin Red and my sister did just that.. Of course, payment will now be given to my aunt as it was after all a very good gesture not worthy to be abused.. Thanks Auntie Vicky..

We shall be in Singapore by November 1, 2010 for me and Red and Honey on November 4, 2010.. Hurrah!!! See you soon Lara, Tito Noel and Granny Linda.. and all of you there..

This is it!

My Tito told me to submit my resume ASAP! I could get recommended for a teaching job that pays range between 2,200-2500 SG.. I tried calculating that with PayPal and below is the result..

71,274.72 PHP

PayPal exchange rate:1 SGD = 32.3976  PHP
Goodness!
Updating my resume now.. sending it to my Tito later..
